What are Before Action Reviews?
Before Action Reviews can be used before undertaking larger pieces of work or starting a project. The questions posed help a team think about potential challenges and risk so they can mitigate them before they arise later on in a project. They also encourage you to consult lessons learned from other teams and come to a consensus on exactly what is the team is setting out to achieve.
The following questions are posed:
- What are we setting out to achieve?
- What can be learned from similar situations and past projects from elsewhere?
- What will help deliver success?
- What are the actions we need to take to avoid problems and apply good practice?1
How can LKS support a Before Action Review and what are the benefits?
LKS can take a facilitative role in Before Action Reviews guiding teams through the process and helping them consider good practice. They prompt teams to proactively think about project risks and consider how they might manage them before a big piece of works begins. The time taken to deliver a Review is flexible to suit the needs of teams involved.
